The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power trailer revealed at Super Bowl 2022. “What else is there?” asks an unheard voice as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power teaser trailer fades in. It’s up to a trailer to get people thinking about pressing issues, but given how little we know about Middle-earth’s Second Age, this appears like a particularly pertinent question.
Following the conclusion of last year’s Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Amazon Prime Video started dropping hints about The Rings of Power. We’ve learned lots about the characters. We know little about Tolkien’s Second Age (because he wrote little about it) and the series boasts a huge 22-person main cast that will be featured in many different stories throughout its epic tale. That, in my opinion, is the trailer’s greatest achievement. It has a lot in common with The Lord of the Rings.

The teaser alludes to the potential rulers of their various kingdoms who are in danger. We know that Sauron’s (now Mairon) rise to power will be chronicled throughout the forthcoming season, with an unaware Middle-earth enjoying a time of peace.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on September 2nd exclusively on Prime Video. J.A. Bayona will direct the series pilot, “Shadow of the Past.”
