Instagram is testing out a new monetization option called Fan Subscriptions for Instagram creators. This would be another source of revenue for platform stars, and ideally it will encourage them to keep uploading to IG rather than being lured to TikTok or YouTube.
The purple crown will now be used as the new subscriber icon, which will be added to post comments, indicate subscriber views on Stories, and signify live streams available only to paying members.
“With Instagram Subscriptions, creators can develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits, all within the same platform where they interact with them already.”
The option is now only in the very early prototype stages, with a small number of well-known creators inside the app. Users with the ‘Subscribe’ button on their profile can now be connected to the sign-up flow through this option.
How much money can earn with Instagram Fan Subscriptions and what is included in it?
Subscription prices for those who can use the new monetization option may vary from $0.99 to $99.99 monthly. So, what is included in the subscriptions?
- Subscribers-Only Lives – Exclusive Lives may be broadcast to subscribers, allowing them to engage more closely.
- Subscribers-Only Stories – Premium subscribers will be able to view stories produced exclusively for them by their creators, where they may discuss behind-the-scenes things, establish special polls, and so on. Subscribers will also be able to save these tales as exclusive highlights.
- Subscriber Badges – Subscribers will be displayed with a badge next to their comments and primary and request inbox messages so that creators may quickly identify them.
Given the limited access to the option thus far, this isn’t a big change, but it’s a good move by IG, which might pay off eventually for the app in the long run.
