Tesla has begun accepting Dogecoin, the first meme cryptocurrency, as payment for some of its goods and according to CoinMarketCap statistics, Dogecoin’s price has increased by more than 12 percent.
You can now buy Tesla merch with Dogecoin
The DOGE symbol has also been seen next to the Tesla Cyberwhistle and the “Giga Texas” belt buckle, according to some Twitter users including Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus himself.

Dogecoin can technically be used to purchase an electric car from Tesla, despite the fact that it is not accepted for cars for adults. DOGE may be used to purchase the Tesla Cyberquad which is a $1,900 quad bike designed for children.
As we’ve reported in December, Tesla was planning to accept Dogecoin (DOGE) for merchandise purchases. After looking at the website’s source code, @Tree_of_Alpha from Twitter discovered that Tesla was testing a DOGE payment option earlier this week.
Tesla now added a custom SVG icon for the Dogecoin payment option as well as a golden doge-like background color.

Tesla’s website states that it does not accept any other cryptocurrencies, with the exception of Dogecoin. In March 2021, Tesla Motors started experimenting with Bitcoin payments, but it subsequently abandoned them owing to environmental concerns.
Dogecoin has frequently been referred to as a superior alternative for payments than Bitcoin by Musk.
