The expected launch date for the Donald Trump administration’s new social media network is February 21, according to an entry in Apple’s App Store.
In 2021, Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube due to fears that his statements would incite more violence after the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
Why Trump is launching Truth Social?
Trump’s Twitter account has been permanently banned. Facebook suspended Trump until at least January 2023. When the danger of violence dropped, YouTube said it would lift the ban on Trump’s channel. Before being prohibited, the former president had stories criticized by Facebook and Twitter for spreading false information about the election and pandemic. Even the streaming platform Twitch has banned Donald Trump.
Trump’s efforts to establish his own social network illustrate how the former president is attempting to reignite his online presence, even after being ousted from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
In October, Trump announced the new social network called Truth Social. It is available for preorder and it is expected to be launched in Q1 of 2022.
