Schlage was the first firm in the United States to embrace the Apple HomeKit Home Key platform at CES 2022.
Home automation technology introduced last year as part of the iOS 15 upgrade enables you to store digital house keys in your Apple Wallet.
How to use Apple HomeKit for keyless entry?
It’s really easy. Once the lock is put in (I’ve installed similar smart locks before, so set aside an afternoon) and registered as a new gadget in Apple Home (with a code or by using the phone’s camera to read a HomeKit QR code), it may be used as a Home Key. You can choose one of two unlocking modes: “Face ID or Passcode” or “Express Mode.”
Touch to unlock the door? No, thanks. Face ID or Passcode are required to unlock your phone in order for you to open the door. Express Mode allows you to touch or press your iPhone against the deadbolt without first unlocking it. The lock also opens with a tap on your Apple Watch or a regular key.
The administrator can access it through a web browser, and you may use your Amazon account to enable Gmail conversations. It also supports code entry and allows you to store and personalize (set usage schedules) up to 100 codes on the app.
The Home app will also allow the lock to link with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as other smart home platforms. The deadbolt is scheduled to be released in the spring for $299.99.
