Decentraland recreates Times Square and organizes the world’s first metaverse new year party. Blockchain and crypto investor Digital Currency Group (DCG) and the international real estate firm Jamestown have announced Wednesday that they’re going to recreate a significant cultural site within the virtual world platform Decentraland. One Times Square.
One Times Square is a 26-story building in the middle of New York City’s Times Square. The building itself is owned by Jamestown. On New Year’s Eve the ball drops from the roof of the building and a celebration is held.
Decentraland’s Times Square metaverse new year party
On December 31 at 11 p.m. EST, the virtual One Times Square will have a New Year’s Eve party and it will be a virtual New Year’s Eve Ball. It will be one of the first times that a major cultural event has been translated into the metaverse.

The One Times Square project, which will be constructed by the metaverse development companies GrowYourBase and MetaVenture Studios, is located at -106, -119 on the platform.
In 2021, Decentraland was gaining popularity as a digital land platform. A few parcels of its digital land were selling for millions of dollars for shopping districts such as Sotheby’s which was recreating its physical space.
