Nvidia is going to launch a new RTX 2050 series that will power affordable laptops in the spring of 2022. The new RTX 2050 graphics card is based on Ampere GA107 architecture instead of Turing.
Nvidia RTX 2050 with Ampere
RTX 30 series are powered by Ampere architecture, maybe Nvidia wants to offer the new RTX 2050 graphics card with ray tracing capabilities in cheaper laptops by making this improvement. The new GPU will also have 2,048 CUDA cores and 4GB GDDR6. The same features that RTX 3050 is offering. But the new RTX 2050 comes with a 64-bit memory bus instead of RTX 3050’s 128-bit.
Considering that we are still experiencing a global chip shortage, Nvidia’s plans to manufacture a GPU that will perform between RTX 3050 and the RTX 1650 might be sensible, instead of offering a high-end beast. We expect this new GPU to perform better than RTX 1650 at a cheaper price than RTX 3050.
The company also announced new entry-level MX550 and MX570 laptop chips but no further details have been mentioned.
