LG is announcing its first gaming laptop, called the UltraGear 17G90Q. This laptop is powered by an 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics card and can be configured with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
In the past, the company focused on office productivity rather than on offering the best gaming experience. LG has always been known for their great laptops, especially the Gram series, but one area that has always been absent with this series is gaming.
The new gaming laptop has a similar profile to the other new LG Gram laptops. It’s light, portable, and it’s under 21.4mm thick and 2.7 kilograms.
There are two laptops listed on LG’s site that come equipped with Nvidia’s GTX 1650 graphics chip which has lower-power compared to GTX 3080. In contrast, the new LG UltraGear 17G90Q laptop is the only one available with the powerful Nvidia RTX 3080 chip.
The laptop also has a 1080p IPS display with a 300Hz refresh rate, an RGB keyboard, a fingerprint sensor on the power button, a 93Wh battery, and a 1080p webcam. It comes with an aluminum case, and the laptop is available in a stunning dark purple gray color.
While the LG UltraGear 17G90Q is aimed at gamers, it still comes with a number of physical ports. It has two USB-C ports including one USB 4, two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, HDMI port, Ethernet, and a microSD card slot. You can charge the laptop via a dedicated DC input.
LG did not announce the pricing for the 17G90Q, but more details will emerge at the CES on January 4th. The company plans toı release the laptop first in the US and South Korea starting in early 2022.
