Currently, Xiaomi is focusing its efforts on MIUI 13 development. A number of recent high-end smartphones have already received internal builds in the stable beta channel, with more expected soon. Other OEMs, such as Samsung, OPPO, and OnePlus, have already revealed their software skins for Android 12. Xiaomi has been somewhat late to the party, with no sign of a large upgrade almost two months after Android 12 reached stable. However, that will apparently change in the near future.
Xiaomi has said that MIUI 13, the next version of Xiaomi’s highly customized Android skin, maybe unveiled on December 16 in China, or in just 20 days. The event is expected to be quite a significant one, and it will also presumably announce the next Xiaomi flagship phone. However, a 4-hour long event for only two products is still too lengthy, therefore we may expect to see additional product introductions.
MIUI 13 is expected to debut on December 16
The Android skin has been boasted to be a significant upgrade over MIUI 12.5, bringing along a slew of improvements and user interface changes. Internal test builds have already been provided to at least nine devices: the whole Mi 11 series, Mi 11 Lite 5G, Mi 10S, MIX 4, and Redmi K40/K40 Pro+. These gadgets will almost certainly receive Android 12-based MIUI 13 stable, although other smartphones will ultimately get Android 11-based MIUI 13.
There are no official details regarding the device’s features thus far; Xiaomi has been rather secretive about it all. Still, we’ve had a few clues in recent times, including a re-designed File Manager and themes applications. MIUI 13 is also anticipated to include new wallpapers and icons.
