The Moscow Arbitration Court has banned Samsung from selling specific smartphones. There are 61 Galaxy phones in total in the banned list including brand new Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The court has ordered Samsung to cease importing and selling these smartphones because they violate SQWIN SA’s, a Switzerland-based company, patents.
According to SQWIN SA, the company’s patent-protected electronic payment system was used by Samsung Pay.
According to Samsung, the case is still pending appeal. SQWIN SA did not comment. On July 27, the court of first instance upheld the claim by SQWIN SA but did not identify the devices in question, prompting the Swiss firm to appeal. The October decision clarified which models were prohibited.
