Even though Intel has not yet formally announced its new Core i9-12900K CPU, it has already been sold by a retailer. This Intel CPU is expected to be one of the most important processors under the Alder Lake line.
Intel Core i9-12900K CPUs have been sold to a Reddit user
According to Techspot, an unnamed retailer sold two Core i9-12900K processors in retail packaging to a Reddit user for $610 each. Last year a similar mistake has happened when Intel was about to launch Rocket Lake CPUs.
A Reddit user has uploaded a number of images of the unreleased Core i9-12900K processor in its retail packaging. There’s a wafer ornament in the box, but it doesn’t reveal the processor frequency or core count. Because the CPU is useless without the Z690 motherboards, the Reddit user is unable to post benchmarks or other information about it.
Intel is expected to release its Alder Lake desktop CPUs, including the high-end Core i9-12900K this month. Intel’s latest hybrid architecture will be used in Alder Lake: a blend of both performance and efficiency x86 cores.
