Epic Games is “open to games that support cryptocurrency or blockchain-based assets” on its game store, according to The Verge’s report. Remember that Valve has prohibited games with blockchain technology or NFTs from its platform.
Epic Games Store will allow blockchain games on the platform
Epic also stated that there will be some restrictions, but that it is willing to work with “early developers” in the “new field.” Epic announced that the games must meet financial rules, clarify how the blockchain is utilized, and obtain suitable age ratings.
In addition, Epic Games said that it will not be able to accept cryptocurrency through its payment service. Developers will have to utilize their existing payment systems.
Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, has stated that the firm is not interested in dealing with NFTs. However, this appears to apply exclusively to its games at present.
Epic Games Store will welcome games that make use of blockchain tech provided they follow the relevant laws, disclose their terms, and are age-rated by an appropriate group. Though Epic's not using crypto in our games, we welcome innovation in the areas of technology and finance. https://t.co/6W7hb8zJBw
