Users will be able to play voice messages from anywhere on WhatsApp using the “global voice message player.” Currently, WhatsApp users can’t listen to a voice message without leaving the conversation. But this is about to change.
WhatsApp is working on the global voice message player
The feature will not come as a complete redesign, but there will be some interface modifications. A dedicated top bar might be pinned to the top of WhatsApp’s screen for listening to voice messages. The bar could also contain basic controls like stop, play, and dismiss. The best part of this tool is that users would be able to jump between conversations while listening to that voice message.
It’s a simple addition, yet it might be beneficial for those who send long voice messages. We don’t know if WhatsApp has plans to go a little further by bringing a feature that allows listening to voice messages in the background after switching to another application. We don’t know when this tool will reach stable versions. But we look forward to it.
