There are Instagram users who would like to be able to choose at all times with whom they share their Stories, those daily short videos feature of the platform has been very successful since the first day of its launch.
Users do not want all of their contacts to see their Stories because of personal reasons, but they do not want to lose their followers too.
Instagram wants to improve the user experience according to their demands
In this sense, the social platform, owned by Facebook Inc, has chosen to carry out a test by which the option of “Close friends” will be renamed as “Selected people”, although the test begins to be carried out exclusively in Brazil. They plan to expand these tests to other territories later.
Instagram’s Selected People tests started in Brazil
The only difference is that the user himself will be able to edit the list of people with whom he shares his stories. So far, this has not been possible, but with the feature being tested, the user will be able to open the list to keep, add and remove contacts from the list.
It’s essential to understand that Selected People is just a variation of Close Friends, and it’s not the same as the function reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi discovered called Exclusive Stories. This one will be for content providers to sell their products, which is similar to what Twitter has been doing with its Super Follow feature.
How does the Selected People feature work on Instagram?
To be able to share a story with your Selected People list, you have to follow these steps:
- Create a Story and tap on Share.
- Choose “Selected People” to see which people are on the list.
- Check and uncheck people, checked users will be able to see your story while unchecked users won’t be able to do so.
The list will remain unchanged until users choose to edit the list again, you won’t have to repeat the whole process every time you want to share a story.
This way, users will have more control over the platform, although it will be necessary to wait for the test to succeed. We still don’t know if this feature will be available for the stable version, we’ll keep an eye on it.
