You can now expand the SSD storage of your console
At the end of July, Sony revealed that the capability to enhance the SSD storage on the console is already in beta and will be included in a future software update. And now it’s available to all users for the first time.
Sony now allows expanding the SSD storage of the PS5Before you start working on this project, keep in mind a few things. The M.2 SSD must fulfill certain standards, as stated by the Sony team. For example, it has to be PCI-Express Gen4x4 compliant, with a read speed of 5500 MB/s or higher, from 250GB to 4TB, among other requirements.
So it’s important that before you buy M.2 SSD, read all the information shared by Sony Support about the requirements and how to install it. They even share a video that guides you step by step on how to install an M.2 SSD in your console, as you can see in this link.
What can you do with the M.2 SSD once it’s installed? This storage may be used to backup, transfer, run multimedia applications, and start PS5 and PS4 games. And that’s just one of the new features in this upgrade.
For example, there is a slew of new features for gamers to personalize the Control Center, improved dynamics for interacting with other users, 3D audio support for integrated TV speakers, and so on.
