Twitter is about to allow users to tip accounts with Bitcoin. This has been confirmed by Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s product leader, although he has not provided details on how this new proposal will work.
This change opens up a whole new world of possibilities for people who are very active on the social media site. For example, if you want to show your appreciation for someone or something they tweeted then it would be easy enough just to send them some money!
Bitcoin is beginning to be integrated into Twitter
Twitter has already launched Super Follows and is developing numerous new features. It’s creating a slew of new tools focused on user privacy and security, as we saw yesterday.
That’s not all, as it is also considering the integration of Bitcoin into the platform. The news was revealed by Alessandro Paluzzi, but has already been confirmed by Twitter team.
You may recall that a few months ago, Twitter unveiled the TipJar functionality, which allows users to send money to other accounts. And for this, certain platforms were made available so that the user could choose how to give the money in a variety of ways. The procedure begins on Twitter, but the transfer of funds is handled by the same payment platform, whether it is PayPal, Venmo, Patreon, Bandcamp, etc.

It is this system that Twitter intends to link Bitcoin, and maybe even Super Follows, into. Yes, users will be able to give Bitcoin tips to other accounts. The Twitter team has merely confirmed this information but hasn’t offered any details about how it will function or which countries will be included at this time.
Looking at the screenshots provided by Alessandro Paluzzi, Twitter will use Lightning and Strike networks, and users will be prompted to link their cryptocurrency wallet; however, we’ll have to wait until Twitter reveals more information on this new opportunity it will provide on the platform.
