This Galaxy Fold folds not once, but twice, its triple screen poses an inspiring option for the future of foldable smartphones. The product, called “Samsung Flex In & Out”, has been shown at the iMiD 2021 (The International Meeting for Information Displays) fair, and demonstrates the capacity of a folding screen that once unfolded ends up turning the mobile into a unique tablet.
Keeps folding
Samsung unveiled a new prototype folding phone in May, but it was essentially a non-functional mockup.
In the Samsung video, you can observe how this prototype works, although only part of the screen is visible. The device’s only flaw is that the screen folds twice in order to end up taking up more or less space than a regular phone, which is visible in just the thickness part.
Samsung’s multi-foldable display technology appears to be a major focus for the company as it develops future mobile devices. We don’t know whether or when this prototype will become a commercial product, and when it will be launched.
Samsung revealed its Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G recently, but all of previous folding screen phones sold commercially have had folded displays that were folded only once. Doing it twice will undoubtedly provide more choices.
