Today we’ve been able to learn that Epic Games Store is ready to launch self-publishing closed beta. Even though free games have made this company very popular, this system does not seem to have improved their income, which is why those responsible have opted for various ways to monetize the large number of users they currently have.
So the next step in this regard is to expand the catalog of the store. Epic Games Store’s still lacks far behind Steam when it comes to the number of available games. So they had to take a step in this direction.
As we can read on its own website, the company has just launched a closed beta for the self-publishing feature. Currently, the platform’s technical team is in charge of this process.
The company plans to test the self-publishing tools for games and applications (yes, they will also have a place in this new system) and, based on the feedback received by its first users and make the necessary adjustments.
This is quite positive for those developers who want to be able to manage their presence on Epic Games themselves. However, the company will have to be extremely careful to prevent content that does not respect the standards set by the store.
