Not long ago EA Games made the drastic decision to remove several games from the GOG platform, including Ultima Underworld, Ultima Underworld 2, Syndicate Plus, and Syndicate Wars, which led to a lot of commotion among the community and endless rumors.
What happened was that the company did not take into account the community’s response to the decision to remove the games from the store.
Why EA removed Ultima Underworld and Syndicate from GOG?
After the avalanche of negative comments that fell on the developer, the company decided to put the games back on sale. The reason for the conflict was explained by Chris Bruzzo: “When making decisions that affect players we take the time to review exactly what the potential impacts are and whether they serve the players’ best interests. When we delisted Syndicate and Ultima Underworld we missed that step and so didn’t fully consider the players perspective.”
Considering that the company’s focus is on flagship sports franchises such as Madden, FIFA and NHL, it is refreshing to see them taking a step to correct its mistakes.
