Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features
The Z Fold 3 is the most compact model in the series to date. When folded, it has a height of 158.2 millimeters, not much more than that of other conventional high-end mobiles. In this way, Samsung aims to appeal to a wider audience, adding points to the ergonomics of the device.
Samsung also ensures that this is the most resistant folding model they have created to date, by using a 10% stronger aluminum, so that it can better protect the hinge responsible for allowing the screen to fold. As for the back and the outer screen, we find Gorilla Glass Victus glass more resistant to scratches and shocks.
Also, for the first time, IPX8 water resistance has been added, a feature hitherto lacking in foldable smartphones.
Otherwise, this is a very similar device to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. One important difference is the fact that now the edges of its body are flat, and not rounded as in previous generations. As for its screens, the inner -foldable- one has 7.6 inches, and the outer one remains at 6.2 inches.
Both screens make use of Super AMOLED technology and have resolutions of 2208 x 1768 pixels and 2260 x 832 pixels respectively. Both displays also have a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The inner screen also hides a secret or two. For starters, Samsung has improved the resistance of the film that covers the screen. The Ultra-Thin Glass technology of the Z Fold 3 has the highest degree of resistance seen so far is a model of the brand, according to Samsung, providing up to 80% more durability.
But that’s not all. The display includes a 4MP camera, hidden under the panel and invisible -unless we get too close. While it is true that this is not a high-resolution sensor, it should not be forgotten that the cover screen also includes a camera for selfies, in this case, 10MP.
The rest of the photographic system is completed by a triple camera, consisting of three 12MP resolution sensors, including telephoto sensors and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Even more power and support for S-Pen
As it could not be otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 arrives with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor inside. It is accompanied by 12GB RAM and 128 or 256GB internal storage, plus a 4,400mAh battery.
All this is backed by One UI 3.1, the latest version of the company’s software based on Android 11. In addition, like the rest of Samsung’s high-end lineup, the device will receive Android updates for a minimum of three years, and security updates for four.
This year, Samsung wanted to bring one of the most popular features of its Galaxy Note series of devices to its Fold series: the S Pen stylus. For the first time in the history of Samsung’s Fold family, support for this accessory is included, allowing you to get even more out of the productivity and artistic functions of the phone.
The S Pen makes it possible, for example, to draw on the screen, write notes, and much more. In addition, the stylus complements the “flex mode”, allowing, for example, to write in the notes app on one half of the screen while playing a video on the other half.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 price and release date
Samsung already allows you to book the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 through its official website. Its price is about $2,123 if we talk about the version with 256GB storage. Its price increases to $2,241 for the model with 512GB internal storage.
