In this article, we’ll tell you how to enable or disable Google Messages smart replies. If you want to enable or disable smart replies in the Google Messages app, here are the steps to get it.

The Google Messages application is one of the most used SMS apps worldwide. This application has introduced a lot of features over the years, such as the ability to schedule the sending of a message. In the application, we also find smart replies, a feature inspired by the one that Gmail introduced years ago.

Smart replies detect the content of an SMS and allow us to send a reply among the options suggested. A quick and convenient way to reply to SMS. There are users in Google Messages who want to use this feature, while others do not want to use it because they do not think it is useful.

How to enable or disable Google Messages smart replies?

Smart replies in Google Messages are presented as a way to respond to an SMS quickly. This feature is going to detect the content of that message we have received and a series of responses will be generated based on the message in question. This feature can be very useful for users in the app, although others do not quite see its usefulness. Luckily, it is a feature that we can enable or disable in the app to our liking, following these steps:

  • Open Google Messages on your mobile.
  • Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to Suggestions in chat.
  • Go to the first section, Smart Replies.
  • Activate or deactivate this function, depending on what you want to do.

With these simple steps, you have decided what happens with these smart replies in the SMS application on your Android phone. If you have enabled them, when someone writes you a message, the feature will be able to understand the context of that message and offer you a series of suggestions that you can choose and use as your reply.

If you have disabled this feature in the app, you will be the one writing the reply as usual, without a series of suggestions to write.
