The revamped Wear OS coming to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will support more digital assistants and not just Google Assistant.
On August 11 we will know the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, which will use the renewed Wear OS in which Samsung and Google have collaborated, of which we are having a lot of news these weeks. In this new version of the operating system, we can expect many changes and one of them has just been unveiled.
It seems that Wear OS 3 will give freedom to use other digital assistants. Google Assistant would no longer be the only assistant in these watches, allowing the entry of others such as Bixby or Alexa.
Wear OS 3 will support more assistants
As they tell from 9to5Google, the source code of the latest version of the Wear OS application has shown this important change. It has been possible to see a package called:
- com.google.android.wearable.alternate_assistant in that code, which would indicate that support for other digital assistants.
This would be an important step in the operating system because it means that Google opens this system to other developers. Google Assistant would no longer be the only assistant available in it, allowing manufacturers to introduce their own in their smartwatches.
It is therefore expected that these Galaxy Watch 4 that will use Wear OS 3 will arrive with Bixby as their assistant. In addition, it also opens the possibility that users will be able to add Alexa as an assistant on their watches using this new version of the operating system.
Surely in the presentation of the Galaxy Watch 4, which will be when this new version of the operating system is made official, we will know more. We will have to see if these watches come with Bixby or not.
