E.T. the alien was a pain in the ass because among other things E.T. spent the whole time falling into holes: every time you did something wrong, into the hole. A character came and touched you, into the hole. You chose the wrong button, into the hole. And you had to get out of there slowly with the joystick, a real bore, or wait for Elliot to come and help you. That was a real pain in the ass.
