For 24 hours we lived with the idea that Jeff Bezos would open on Amazon the option to pay for everything with Bitcoin. But this is not the case.
The object of this recemt rumor was the bitcoin, and the possibility was apparently imminent for a second that Amazon would begin to imitate Tesla to accept the cryptocurrency as a method of payment. From the beginning the whole thing sounded weird and without a single prior indication that seemed to point in that direction. And today we finally have more clarity on everything.
Amazon talks about the use of bitcoin
First, it is necessary to narrate the background. It all started with a report published early Monday in which it was assured that, at the initiative of Jeff Bezos himself, everything was practically organized for Amazon to integrate the use of bitcoins as a form of payment.
The report’s projections pointed out that the store would fully integrate the cryptocurrency by the end of 2021. They even stated that later they would also accept Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
Here the matter already sounded out of all proportion and as could be expected a company spokesperson already spoke on the matter for the Reuters news agency: “The speculation that has arisen around our specific plans for cryptocurrencies is not true.”
But all this is not gratuitous. Exactly a week ago it was leaked that indeed Amazon has opened a job vacancy looking for someone knowledgeable in the use of cryptocurrencies. The employee would join the Amazon Payments Acceptance & Experience team. In fact, as of today, you can see the job description on the website.
So the possibility of the site integrating the use of these currencies in some way or another doesn’t sound so far-fetched. Although perhaps it could be a non-concrete project in the medium or long term.
