There is no doubt that WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging application. Every day millions of users from all over the world use it and all this despite not being the best. Because indeed, there are better alternatives such as Telegram, although unfortunately not with such a large user base.
Nevertheless, there are more and more WhatsApp rivals every day. The latest to arrive is HalloApp, an application for individual or group chats with the main feature: to use it you will have to pay for it. Does it make sense?
HalloApp: A paid WhatsApp, private and with encrypted conversations
Why pay for something that apps like WhatsApp or Telegram do for free? HalloApp is an application developed by two former WhatsApp employees that promises a “very different” user experience to that of other messaging applications or social networks.
In its official blog, HalloApp warns us that this tool is not the same as other similar applications. HalloApp is not a showcase where you can gather as many contacts or “likes” as possible. It is an application to talk to your friends and family for real. No advertising, bots, or influencers. Private conversations with our closest people.
HalloApp prioritizes the privacy of users. It uses our smartphone’s address book to connect with our contacts and nothing else. It does not care about our address, or where we work, or any other private information, or at least that’s what they say.
The point is that to use HalloApp you will have to pay a subscription. Not a one-time payment, but a subscription, which has not yet been disclosed. This may be what most users are put off by and as we have said before, the messaging app market is saturated and most of the consumer options are free.
We will have to see if HalloApp succeeds or if on the contrary, it joins the list of applications that did not achieve their goal. Only time will tell.
