If you’re over 40, this news is sure to bring back fond memories, and you may even shed a few tears of emotion… What are the biggest pop icons of the 1980s? It’s hard to agree on a list, but for sure Casio watches and PAC-MAN, enter in almost all TOP 10.
Both items are already more than 40 years old, so to celebrate the Japanese brands Casio and Bandai Namco have collaborated to launch Casio PAC-MAN, the retro watch that breaks all the scales of eighties nostalgia.
Officially it is the Casio A100WEPC model and will go on sale worldwide, next month. You can see it in this video:
Casio watches were the best-selling watches in the world in the 70s and 80s. Almost everyone over 40 has worn the legendary Casio F91-W on their wrist at some point, which is still being sold, and it only costs $55 on Amazon.
PAC-MAN, the mythical Pac-Man, as it was called here, was released in 1980, in arcade machines in bars and arcades, being one of the first video games that achieved worldwide fame.
To celebrate the 40th Anniversary Casio and Bandai Namco launch the Casio A100WEPC watch, based on the recently released Casio A-100, which in turn is inspired by the legendary Casio F-100, launched in 1978.
Its main feature is its design with 4 buttons on the front, instead of on the sides, as usual.
It would have been nice to be able to play PAC-MAN on the screen, but if Casio stands out for something is that, above, it manufactures watches. This has been the case for more than 40 years, and it has not done badly, despite the arrival of smartwatches and cell phones.
At the moment the Japanese company has not provided the price of this Casio PAC-MAN in some countries. As we have said, its launch is scheduled for next month.
Many people may no longer use them, but watches still have a lot to say… And nostalgia is a factor that Casio has been able to exploit. A few weeks ago it also launched the Casio watch from the movie Alien.
