Today we are going to show you some realistic human face designs created by MetaHuman Creator. It is a cloud-based software created a few months ago by Epic Games. It has been available since April as an early access preview. But today we were able to see some incredible examples.
Epic Games’ MetaHuman Creator is amazing at designing realistic human faces
Dana, for example, represents a 24-year-old woman studying art in New York. In order to demonstrate in a practical way what can be achieved with MetaHuman Creator, this character was created only in half an hour.
Several professionals from different areas of digital design highlighted the value of this tool in the process of creating characters for video games or audiovisual projects.
Synthetic voices applied to a pair of MetaHumans
Replica Studios works with a team of voice actors who, through sound samples of their vocal registers, give life to video game characters or audiovisual projects. The recordings are generated by an AI system that, unlike other synthetic voices, offer a higher degree of realism.
Combining this resource with one of the demos presented by Epic Games on MetaHuman, this voice studio published a video in which they demonstrate that it is already possible to create highly detailed audiovisual pieces with virtual actors.
Siren, one of the first demos of MetaHuman
Siren is the name Epic gave to this avatar, inspired by the Chinese actress Bingjie Jiang. This digital character has the particularity of being controlled in real-time by means of a motion capture system, a resource that has long been used in digital animation. With this technology, the possibilities of use are extended to wider fields, such as the generation of virtual hosts for digital events, for example.
This project was presented during the 2018 Game Developers Conference, in which Epic Games highlighted it as a creation generated with Unreal Engine. Following the public presentation of MetaHuman, Siren was added to this tool’s portfolio.
MetaHuman’s potential for the audiovisual area
Another example presented in 2018 by Epic is this digital version of actor Andy Serkis, who appears in a video reciting lines from Macbeth.
While the example is similar to the previous one, it’s an example of how MetaHuman Creator can begin to gain traction in audiovisual creation.
If high-end productions such as The Mandalorian have previously relied on Unreal Engine, MetaHuman’s parent technology, it would not be strange to see it used in other projects of the same category in the future.
