Instagram has taken to its blog to announce the arrival of a security check for the user to secure their account after it was hacked.
Instagram puts several tools in our hands in case we are not even able to change the name of the account. Now it will help you to secure it if it was hacked.
This new tool takes the user through a series of questions and actions to lock their account so they can recover it if they ever feel it has been hacked.
Check your account and secure it
It will be possible to review recent activity on the account, review profile information, and update the same in the event that we have finally lost access to our account.
And although we do not see anywhere the recommendation to use 2-step authentication, from the publication made in the blog, the social network comments that its use is essential to put the lock on our account.
In fact, it has taken the opportunity to announce that from now to within a few weeks it will allow the use of the WhatsApp number in some countries to confirm our identity and thus verify the account.
Integration is quite similar to that existing in Facebook Messenger where SMS messages are used to verify the user’s identity.
Instagram will never send you a private message
In the same publication, the social network has warned that it has seen an exponential increase in the number of phishing cases with which they try to steal personal information as well as the password of many users.
In fact, it warns that we will never receive a private message from Instagram itself, and that message will be from someone who is making fraudulent use.
Any communication made by the social network will always be from the “Emails from Instagram” tab that can be found in the app’s settings.
An Instagram that continues to put the batteries in security, as it has been updated with a data saving mode for when we are away from home or that we can use pronouns in our account.
