The features of iOS 15 that remind us of Android

During the WWDC 2021 event, Cupertino presented its new version of the operating system for its devices, iOS 15, and showed those features and functions that would bring with the arrival of this new software. However, Apple users have seen how many of these new features that seemed unique, are not exactly.

For this reason, we will review those new features that the Californian brand has presented and that we could already find in Android mobile devices. In addition, this is why many users consider that there are no major improvements regarding this new update. And is that the main new features or functionalities that were presented with the arrival of iOS 15, remind us too much of Android since some of them are found in Google’s operating system for years, as is the case of notifications.

iOS 15 notifications are Android-styled

Apple is releasing a new feature that will allow iPhone users to set different notification preferences depending on their current status. In addition, they will also let you change this status easily from the lock screen or the control center. This will change the way we receive notifications, alerts, and sounds depending on whether we are “driving”, “working”, “sleeping” or “studying”.

And although the style of notifications is still pretty much the house brand, there is no denying that there is quite a lot of similarity with the Android style. As you can see, in iOS 15 instead of showing the app icon or photo in small at the top, it will be displayed larger on the left. Something that has been seen in Android for some time.

Text recognition in photos

The iPhone camera will gain a feature that will be very useful for many people, the fact of being able to take a photo in which there is text and that offers us the ability to copy it. We refer to the Live text or Live text that Apple will add in its new version of the software. However, we are facing a system that practically does the same function as Google Lens text recognition. Moreover, it is striking that not only is it similar in its main function, but how it highlights the text in a photo is similar to how Google Lens does it.

Assistant without internet access

One of the novelties that many were already longing for was the simple fact of being able to use Siri when we do not have Internet access. Since, to date, your voice assistant could only respond to queries when you had a connection. At this point, we have also seen something of Android, since the Google Assistant could already cope with basic tasks when you do not have an Internet connection available. Moreover, this is something we have been seeing for quite a few years now. However, the biggest change was announced in 2019, with the offline voice recognition of Google Assistant.
