Adam Mosseri shared a preview of some of the features that will work on Instagram. Yes, video features that will make it more like TikTok.

Mosseri stressed that Instagram is no longer a photo-sharing app, but that users turn to the platform to consume entertaining content. And yes, videos will steal the show on Instagram.

In the video, he shared on Twitter, the head of Instagram, mentioned that Instagram will focus on four main areas: creators, messaging, shopping, and videos. So the new features we see going forward will be focused on improving or enhancing these priorities for Instagram.

Changes are coming to video on Instagram 📺

At Instagram we’re always trying to build new features that help you get the most out of your experience. Right now we’re focused on four key areas: Creators, Video, Shopping and Messaging. pic.twitter.com/ezFp4hfDpf

While he didn’t give too many details, he has highlighted that new video features will be tested. More full-screen video content, and mobile-centric. These new video features will not be available in the immediate future, so we’ll see when Instagram announces more details about this new strategy.

Recall that social media platform has several features in testing, for example, the possibility that more users can include links in Stories, considering that it is now limited to those accounts that have more than 10000 followers.

And on the other hand, Instagram is also considering a subscription model to offer content creators a new way to monetize their content. Another feature that will be in testing soon has to do with recommendations. As they have mentioned, there will be a new type of recommendations for users, which will serve as a way for them to discover and explore topics they don’t follow. All these options are in tests or scheduled for the future, so Instagram wants to cover different areas to strengthen its proposal for users.

For the time being, we will have to wait to see what new features Instagram will finally implement on the platform.
