Although Honor is no longer part of Huawei as a sub-brand, the latter has the responsibility to release all firmware for all handsets launched by the former before April this year.
Although at the beginning of the year Honor will start its new era, all cell phones launched before April 1, 2021, will be updated by Huawei.
The list of devices to be upgraded is quite extensive and will be handled by Huawei, which recently introduced HarmonyOS with its hyperconnectivity.
The list of Honor phones to be updated by Huawei
Honor has explained just today how firmware updates will work for all those launched before that date of April 1, 2021.
Honor Finland has been the one to confirm that Huawei will be in charge of updating all its mobiles until its update cycle is over.
That is, the brand will take care of its phones launched after that date. Among these phones, we can frame the new Honor 50.
That the date is April is not a coincidence, since Honor finally disengaged from Huawei between March and April. In any case, Honor Finland maintains that it will support older devices in the country before Huawei takes over.
Incidentally, Huawei has confirmed that it will continue to support Honor’s high-end devices with monthly updates and for the rest of the lower-quality phones every quarter.
The Honor 20, 20 Pro, and View 20 will receive monthly updates and the list below will receive quarterly security updates until their end of the cycle:
- Honor 30.
- Honor 30 Pro+.
- Honor 30i.

It should be clarified that these Honor phones will receive quarterly security updates, but there is no guarantee that they will receive updates related to new versions of Android.
