Today we’ve learned that the popular social media platform, Facebook, is preparing to release a new Substack alternative called Bulletin. It is a platform for publishing paid or free newsletters that seek to take advantage of a market now largely monopolized by Substack.

Meet Facebook’s alternative to Substack: Bulletin

The newsletter publishing platform has a number of advantages because it has Facebook behind it. This way the new platform will be able to easily share and build a community on the social network. Likewise, users can subscribe with just an email address without the need for a Facebook account.

Posts can be read as they arrive in the email or they can be read directly from the website. On the website, we will be able to comment and see the comments of other users thanks to the integration with Facebook.

Bulletin can currently be accessed from its official website and allows users to subscribe to the different newsletters available. Currently, Facebook has exclusively hired different writers, journalists, and relevant people from the Internet world to publish there.

Even though we can subscribe to the available newsletters, it is not yet possible to create our own newsletters. For Facebook, the goal with Bulletin is to eventually allow millions of people to publish their creative work.

No commission for Facebook

The big advantage of Bulletin seems to have over other newsletter platforms is that it won’t require any commission. This is the strategy the company will follow during Bulletin’s launch, although it has not been specified how long this will last. Be that as it may, for the time being, Facebook will not take any money from paid newsletters published on Bulletin.
