LEGO has just launched a new typewriter model with a mixture of nostalgia and ingenuity, and it almost works. Its 2,079 pieces provide it with keys that can be pressed to move the arm of a letter; a carriage that moves with each press and in which you can load paper; and the carriage return lever, never better said. You can buy this amazing piece of art for $199.99.
Meet this brand new LEGO Ideas Typewriter
It is a design based on the one proposed by Steve Guinness in LEGO Ideas. He proposed it in March 2018 and it was officially adopted by LEGO in June 2020. Since then the two designers in the video above have had to manage, talking with Steve, to shape the final product. Which is in fact based on the typewriter used by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, the company’s founder.
It includes a simulated ribbon and a letter from the current president of the company in 43 languages. It is super fun for LEGO lovers with a $199.99 price tag.
