The charging of our cell phone batteries has evolved in recent years at great speed and never better said. Because precisely companies like Xiaomi have already reached speeds unimaginable just a short time ago. Now we know a new technology they are working on, which will be a total revolution by using a completely different format to what we know.
So far we have known from the Chinese firm the fastest charging technologies using wired and wireless methods using energy induction. But now Xiaomi would go a step further in wireless charging, with an even more novel method.
Charging your Xiaomi phone through sound
In addition to its wired and wireless “Hypercharge” charging methods, Xiaomi has also shown us not long ago a charging method that powers the battery of cell phones remotely, without having to place them on a charger, and from anywhere in the same room. Now we have learned that Xiaomi has patented a new charging system that would use sound waves to charge their phones, a method that would have many advantages over the methods we currently know.
The Chinese firm has filed a patent with the CNIPA, the Chinese intellectual property office, where it shows this new charging technology using sound. This patent contemplates a “sound collection device, several energy conversion devices, and another device to convert the energy” according to the patent with these elements could convert an environmental vibration into mechanical. This mechanical vibration in turn could be converted into alternating current and converted to direct current with a device that will make this conversion.
What are the advantages?
The most important thing about this charging method is that there would be no need for electrical outlets to charge phones. It is still a wireless charging technology, which is more similar to the one presented under the name of Xiaomi Mi Air Charge, which did not need to be near a physical charger to charge. This new technology would be called Xiaomi Sound Charging and would use something as novel to charge as the sound waves themselves.
That this technology reaches the brand’s phones is something that is still a long way off. And at the moment it seems that we will have to wait quite a long time to see it on mobile if it ever does. What it seems is that we are moving towards charging systems that will be able to fill the battery of our phone proactively, without any user interaction. It will probably be enough to carry the cell phone in your pocket to charge the phone automatically.
