New quick charging technology from Xiaomi called Hypercharge brings 200W wired and 120W wireless quick charging to the brand’s smartphones. Xiaomi has just announced the fastest yet and in both modes, it is the fastest fast charging to date.
Using a modified Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro for the occasion, in the demo video, we can see the 4,000 mAh battery can be fully charged in eight minutes wired or, wirelessly, in 15 minutes.
This is the new record in quick charging for smartphones, and doubly so. On one hand, we have traditional wired charging, where Xiaomi has just announced its 200W quick-charging system. This novelty comes just under a year after Xiaomi’s 120W fast charging debuted on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra.
The difference is obvious. If the 120W charge could fill a 4,000mAh battery in 20 minutes, with the 200W fast charge the full charge takes 8 minutes. In 44 seconds the battery is 10% charged and after 3 minutes, half charged.
On the other hand, we have the 120W wireless charging, as an improvement on last year’s 80W self-charging. This time, with one minute of charging we have the battery at 10% and in 7 minutes at the half. Full charge, based on a battery with 4,000mAh capacity, takes 15 minutes in total.
At the moment there is no news on when we will see the first products incorporating this charging technology. In the past, Xiaomi has not taken too long to incorporate its advances in fast charging in the most premium models, although for the moment nothing is known about it.
