Apple has just announced the new iPad Pro (2021) with M1 chip, here is its specs, price and release date. It is a major renewal after the previous version that arrived about a year ago. After months of rumors, this new iPad Pro is finally a reality that brings us the most interesting news.
Along with these iPads come the Apple AirTag, the new 24″ iMac with M1, and the new Apple TV 4K 2021, which debuts the coveted new remote control.
iPad Pro (2021) specs
The surprise of the iPad Pro has been its M1 chip, which puts it on a par with the power and capabilities of the Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and new iMacs. In other words, Apple’s tablet can no longer be considered a younger sister to computers. At least in the Apple ecosystem.
Moreover, the M1 included in these iPads is “the good one”, i.e. the one with 8 GPU cores, as opposed to the 7-core one used in the entry-level MacBook Air.
A very important new feature in terms of specifications is that while the new iPad Pros start from 8GB, Apple now announces, for the first time in its 11 years of iPad, that there is a model with more RAM. Specifically, the 1TB and 2TB models go up to 16GB, while the 128GB, 256GB, and 521GB models stay at 8GB.
As rumored, the 12.9-inch model debuts a Mini-LED display. Apple compares it directly with the panels of the XDR Pro Display, promising quality and richness of colors never seen in this model of the tablet. On this panel, it highlights a peak brightness of 1,600 nits in HDR, with a maximum full-screen brightness of 1,000 nits in HDR and 600 nits peak brightness overall. This is a big increase from the 600 nits of previous models, which were already very bright displays.
The contrast goes up to a 1,000,000,000:1 ratio thanks to using 10,000 very small LEDs, with over 2,500 dimming zones, something that is on par with the best MiniLED TVs on the market, but in a ridiculously small size. Of course, it maintains ProMotion’s adaptive 120 Hz. The 11-inch model continues to have a Liquid Retina Display with an LCD panel.
Another important new feature is the arrival of 5G in the models with mobile connectivity, which allows activities such as streaming content from the tablet itself without needing any equipment other than a tripod. Of course, we will still be able to buy the models with Wi-Fi connectivity.
Its front camera includes a new 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, which also moves to keep you focused on video calls, thanks to centered framing. Perfect for family conversations while cooking or doing anything around the house with the iPad propped nearby.
