Audi A6 E-Tron, a spectacular electric sedan concept that defines the brand’s future. Just a few days ago Audi presented its electric SUV, the Q4 E-Tron and now it is the turn of the next electric sedan. In a new concept, the brand has unveiled its Audi A6 E-Tron, an electric vehicle that will have a range of 700 kilometers and an electric platform shared with Porsche.
The Audi A6 E-Tron has appeared at the Auto Shanghai 2021 show. It is a concept, although Audio lately has accustomed us to be faithful to the concepts when making a mass vehicle. At the moment we can see its design and some of its features, but technical details or final price are still unknown.
Shared platform with Porsche and up to 700km of mobility
The basis of the Audi A6 E-Tron is the platform on which it is built. It will share with Porsche (both subsidiaries of parent company Volkswagen) the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. Audi is one of the brands that is diversifying the most in the use of platforms. It has on the one hand its internal combustion platform on which it has added batteries and electric motors, it has Porsche Taycan’s J1 platform in the E-Tron GT and it has Volkswagen‘s MEB modular platform in the Q4 E-Tron.
The Audi A6 E-Tron concept will be highlighted by the lighting system it will use. The company says its Digital Matrix LED headlights are now even more complex, allowing all kinds of shapes and animations to be projected onto walls and doors. These headlights/projectors can also create animations on the road to warn other drivers or guide the driver.
Another aspect that Audi has revealed is mobility. They say that its battery will have “around 100kWh”, which would allow a range of about 700 kilometers in normal conditions. The battery can be charged with a 270kW charger from 5% to 80% in 25 minutes.
Audi has also let us see some engine figures, it says that with 350 kW the engine will be able to put the car from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds. We will know more in the future.
The car is intended to reach all major markets globally where Audi is now. Mind you, we won’t see a final production version until at least the second half of 2022. Its price is not officially announced yet, but to give you an idea, the Audi A6 starts at $60,000.
