Spotify continues to invest in podcasting with new playlists. Since the beginning of the pandemic, podcasts have become an increasingly sought-after form of entertainment for all age groups. This shift in popularity is known by large companies and both Apple and Spotify, among others, are investing in improving their platforms to accommodate the podcast revolution.
This time, Spotify has launched lists of podcast hits by country just as they are available with songs. They are available in some countries and the future will be adapted to the global geography.
Spotify continues to grow podcasts with new charts
The lists, which are rolling out today in 26 markets on Spotify for mobile devices (iOS and Android), will not only share the fastest trending podcasts of the moment with users but will also list the most popular shows overall in their region based on recent listener numbers.
Via a press release, Spotify announced the arrival of the podcast charts in the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, and Switzerland. These will be the first countries that will be able to see, in the same way as they do with songs, the podcasts in trend, on the rise and their popularity movement. Red and green arrows indicate whether the podcast in question has risen or fallen in the ranking of the most listened to.
Also, it is accompanied by the arrival of a special website dedicated exclusively to podcasts. Here you can see the ranking as well as sort them by categories with a modern, simple, and cared for by Spotify. But this site is only available in the United States, for the moment.
With this new feature, Spotify is going all-in on podcasts. Some countries such as the United States have several features around this type of content and playlists: the most popular podcasts, the most popular episodes, more specific statistics for each of the episodes, and new ways to share content on social networks.
