Amazon has unveiled its new 2nd Gen Echo Buds and today we are going to talk about its specs, price, and release date. These new true wireless headphones come with improvements in design and some great features.
The first-generation Echo Buds arrived in September 2019 and went rather unnoticed. Because the product did not have advanced noise cancellation features and its price was not economic either.
Long story short, they have not been the best seller of Amazon’s hardware line. The new 2nd Gen Echo Buds are coming at a time when the sale of wireless headphones is on the rise.
Amazon 2nd Gen Echo Buds specs
For starters, they arrive in a different form factor. With in-ear fit, they are 20% smaller and the stem size has also been reduced which should improve wearing comfort. The previously glossy black outer panel is now matte and a second color finish has been added in glacier white which really suits it.
The main new feature inside is the active noise cancellation technology. A must-have technology for any headphones that want to enter the premium range. Amazon has also added built-in ventilation holes that should reduce pressure on the ear. They are IPX4 certified and resistant to sweat, light rain, and other splashes.
And, of course, the Echo Buds are compatible with the Alexa voice assistant. You can use voice commands to control music playback, enable noise cancellation or transfer mode (for listening to ambient sounds), set reminders, and more. There is also support for touch control. You can tap once to activate Google Assistant or Siri, for example, or double-tap to listen to notifications.
Amazon promises up to 5 hours of battery life on a single charge. They come with a rechargeable charging case with a USB Type-C port that allows you to extend that time to 15 hours.
Amazon 2nd Gen Echo Buds price and release date
Amazon is rolling out a nice promotion for its new earbuds. The official retail price will be $120, but they will be sold for $99 as a launch promotion. In addition, customers who make their purchase before May 12 will get free six-month subscriptions to Amazon Music Unlimited and Audible Plus services, valid for new subscribers. Users can optionally opt for a dock with Qi wireless charging for an additional $20.
