The travel industry is going through a singularly negative long season and solutions are incoming like Expedia’s COVID-19 Travel Advisor. Services such as Expedia have seen their main (if not only) area of revenue, tourism, take a lethal hit over the last year as a result of COVID-19.

The tourism sector, worldwide, has reported multi-billion dollar losses throughout 2020 and, although 2021 is starting to show some signs of recovery, it is still quite some time before we recover that normality in which the only thing that determined when and where to travel was the availability of time and budget.

However, activities are gradually resuming, and with vaccine production at full capacity, it is not overly optimistic to expect that in a few months we will be able to travel to more destinations and in more relaxed conditions. COVID passports, such as those of the European Union or the IATA airline organization, are intended to speed up this process, and the industry is waiting for this slow recovery.

Although it is beginning to be possible to travel from some places to others, the differences between different territories result in a little chaos when it comes to planning a trip. This is why, Expedia has launched an interesting service, called COVID-19 Travel Advisor, with which it is possible to check the limitations of the different territories, in order to determine whether it is possible to take a trip or not.

The COVID-19 Travel Advisor of Expedia will help you to travel

The operation of this Expedia tool is very simple. All you have to do is access the tool, specify the origin and destination locations, set the planned date of travel, and the COVID-19 Travel Advisor will display a comprehensive list of limitations and conditions for the trip.

In addition, you will also find useful information for the arrival in the country and, a very interesting aspect, if you will have to face any limitations when you return to the country of origin. In addition, the Expedia advisor allows you to “subscribe” to the result of a query, to receive updates on the query if they occur.

It is still early to start planning summer travel. However, both in the early stages of this, as in professional travel, having all the information available is key to avoid unpleasant surprises when arriving at the airport, either at origin or destination. And in this sense, the advisor put in place by Expedia seems to me to be a very good idea.
