Normally, Siri comes with a female voice by default but Apple will give you two brand new options to choose from.

The iOS 14.5 will allow users to choose Siri‘s voice when they first set up their devices. In the setup process, we will be given this option so we can choose the voice we want. In addition, the company will add up to 2 new voice options that use recordings that pass a text engine filter to end up using Apple’s own neural voices.

Siri will not come with a female voice by default

Siri has been a female voice by default for a long time. Then, the company gave the option to use the voice assistant with a male voice. Now, it won’t come with a default setting, instead, users will be able to choose from different voice options when they first set up the device.

The fact that assistants have female voices has been a topic that has been explored in greater depth in recent years. It has been associated with the submissive role of women. Therefore, there are many voices that have complained that the voice of an assistant that basically serves us should not be female by default and users should be able to choose.

“This is a continuation of Apple‘s long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion, and products and services that are designed to better reflect the diversity of the world we live in,” said Apple officials.
