Today we’ve learned that Final Fantasy XI Mobile Reboot has been canceled. For many years, the service of the title originally released in 2002 for the PS2 and PC had great success among the gaming community. As a result, a reboot of the title was announced in March 2015 and was planned for release in 2016. Now the development has finally been canceled.
Final Fantasy XI Mobile Reboot will not be a reality
During a financial results conference call held on February 9, Owen Mahony, president of Nexon, confirmed the cancellation. Nexon is the company that was handling the project together with Square Enix.
The decision has been shared, as both understood that the work was not meeting the expected quality standards, from a creative perspective.
The members who have been part of the development team will be sent to other titles. In December last year, Korean media has reported interruptions in development.
