The presentation of the POCO X3 Pro has helped us to understand Snapdragon 860 processor better. It is a new Qualcomm processor, which is placed within the most powerful mid-range chips of the brand. It is presented a couple of months after Snapdragon 870 has unveiled officially. This time we find a processor that is one step below in terms of performance and power.

Meet the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 860

Snapdragon 860 is the new processor halfway between the high-end and mid-range of Qualcomm. It is a processor that has been manufactured in a 7 nm process and has a total of eight cores inside. The main core runs at a 2.96GHz clock speed, in addition to the three cores at 2.4GHz and four cores at 1.8GHz.

Unlike previous processors within the 800 range, this new chip does not have 5G support. This might sound unusual, but Qualcomm designed this chip especially for devices like POCO X3 Pro. Because in markets like India, where 5G has hardly any presence, the demand is high for affordable smartphones with 4G. It is a processor that has similarities with the Snapdragon 855.

Snapdragon 860 comes with an integrated Adreno 640 GPU. This GPU is mostly geared towards giving a smooth gaming experience on devices like the POCO X3 Pro. It also has an AI engine that has the ability to perform 7.6 trillion operations per second. This is going to make it possible to perform tasks like photo or video editing in a much faster way.

The processor clearly outperforms other mid-range Qualcomm processors, such as Snapdragon 765G or 720G, for example. It has passed the AnTuTu benchmark with a score of 491,412 points, leaving processors like Snapdragon 765G with its 322,369 points or Snapdragon 720G which stands at 278,324 points. This score is one of the highest we can find among 4G processors.

Snapdragon 860 is presented as the future of the most powerful mid-range in Android, especially for models with 4G. So it will not be a surprise if we see a lot of devices powered by this processor. POCO X3 Pro has become the first to debut Snapdragon 860.
