Kia has revealed what is its first car designed to be solely electric, the new Kia EV6. After a first more mysterious preview, the first vehicle of the South Korean brand already has photographs and official design, while waiting to know the technical details about its performance. A particularly attractive car that stands out for being based on “a new design philosophy”, according to Kia.
As we have already seen, it is the brand’s first dedicated electric car. They expect to be able to show it in its entirety later this month during a special online event. The car will have a world premiere and not be limited to its country of origin or very specific markets.
Opposites United’ is the design philosophy under which the new Kia EV6 is sheltered. It is a new style marked by Kia in which in mixing elements of nature with human creations. The result is this vehicle was designed jointly by three Kia design teams: Korea, Germany, and the United States.
The idea is to use this design language for future cars of the brand as well. Kia has a total of 11 electric vehicles planned for the moment and publicly, this is the first of them.
The appearance of the Kia EV6
Starting with its exterior, the car brings a particular aesthetic where more rounded lines predominate. Kia uses adjectives such as “aerodynamic”, “bold” or “modern” to define this style. It highlights the lower front air intake, the hidden door handles, or the swept windshield. At the rear, its continuous lights and C-shaped design stand out.
The interior is limited in the presence of buttons and features a particularly large joint navigation and audio-visual display. Despite the limited number of buttons, there are a few prominent ones on the steering wheel to control the main functions of the car’s system.
As with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, this new Kia EV6 is based on the dedicated E-GMP platform. E-GMP enables the construction of long-range electric cars (over 500 km range) with ultra-fast charging capability (up to 80% in 18 minutes) and considerable acceleration (up to 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds).
However, the exact specifications of the Kia EV6 are not yet known and will have to wait until the end of March. The price will also be a relevant factor in this electric car. With a coherent one, under the E-GMP platform and taking into account the design of the vehicle, we are facing an undoubtedly promising car.
