WhatsApp will include a new option to change the speed of the audios directly in the application. A novelty that already existed in applications such as Telegram.

We have all been in the situation of receiving a very long WhatsApp audio and not wanting to listen to it because of the tedium of being busy attending to it. In other instant messaging services, there is a function to speed up the audios we receive.

This has been announced by WABetaInfo, the portal specialized in WhatsApp famous for revealing the main novelties of the application before anyone else. They claim that the Facebook app is already working on this feature, which will allow users to change the speed of WhatsApp audios.

The bad part of this is that it is not known when the feature will be ready, as there are currently no screenshots of it because it is not yet included in the betas. So there is still quite a while to go before we can enjoy this advantage.

It is to be expected that WhatsApp will copy this feature directly from other applications, such as Telegram. Because yes, as has been practically commonplace for years, Telegram beat WhatsApp to the punch by offering such a possibility. WhatsApp will therefore do the same.

This novelty should make it easier to listen to audios, as it would allow us to play the audio at twice the speed without ceasing to understand it, saving us time on, particularly long voice notes. It is not known if WhatsApp will also include the option to slow down the audio, in case the person speaks too fast and we do not understand what they are telling us.

The WhatsApp team is currently working on this novelty, which will take several months to arrive officially to the application, passing first through the betas. Something that it has not done yet, indicative that it is not even present in the app yet. As always, the consecutive betas that arrive will include this feature for us to test. Although we do not know any details about how the speed change in audios will be implemented within the app interface.

Telegram included this option some time ago, thanks in part to the integrated media player that the application implemented quite some time ago. It is no mystery to anyone how late WhatsApp is in launching various new features for its main application, although there is an explanation for this. Users will have to be patient.
