Apps and services are constantly looking for ways to improve and enhance user experience. There has been a growing trend amongst apps and services recently that has involved offering users a much larger range of options, so that they have more choice in what they engage with. In this article, we’ll look at how this trend can be seen across entertainment services such as online casinos, tv & film streaming, and social media platforms.

User Choice within Online Casinos and Other Gaming & Entertainment Services

Many types of gaming services are now offering users a much wider choice in terms of what games are available. Casino games such as those that qualify for the online bingo jackpot at Betfair are more varied than ever, with multiple themes and genres for players to choose from. The extensive gaming libraries of online casinos have had a huge impact on user experience, as people are more likely to return to an entertainment platform that offers them a range of engaging games. On-demand gaming libraries have also been introduced in console gaming, with Sony offering the PlayStation Now service that allows users to subscribe to their online library and choose between hundreds of titles.

Similar to online casino games, streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime have surged in popularity over the past decade. A significant aspect of streaming services that appeals to users is the large range of content they can choose from. Considering traditional TV formats only allowed people to choose between channels and not specific shows and movies, streaming services have been able to provide users with a much wider choice which has been a major part of the appeal.

How User Choice is Being Used in Social Media Platforms

As freedom of choice for users has seen success within entertainment services such as online casinos and TV streaming platforms, some social media companies are focusing on offering their users more choice.

You will likely have seen ‘Clubhouse’ mentioned around the internet in recent weeks, as it appears to be the next big platform in the social media industry. If you aren’t familiar with what Clubhouse is, it’s essentially a social media platform that focuses solely on audio engagement, allowing users to join in group conversations with others regarding a range of topics. The app is currently invite-only, but the users who have been able to get on the app have mostly given it rave reviews.

One of the appealing aspects of the Clubhouse app is that users can tune in to such a large range of conversations. Users can choose the specific topic of conversation that they are interested in speaking with others about and can elect to join in an ongoing conversation or start their own. Having the choice to use the app in a way that appeals to the user and being able to choose the specific topic of conversation they want to participate in makes for a more engaging user experience. Allowing people to choose between a variety of options is a familiar trend that has resulted in success with other entertainment platforms.

From online casinos to social media platforms: How choice has impacted User Experience

It’s evident that giving users more freedom to choose the type of content they want to engage with has had a positive impact in terms of user experience. There’s no sign of this trend stopping any time soon, as new entertainment services continue to offer users a wide range of options to engage with.
