Until now, when an Instagram Reels link was shared on WhatsApp, we could only see the URL; or the preview if the content was shared directly from Instagram. This is about to change because the most popular messaging platform will let you watch them directly from the app.
WhatsApp loads the preview of the content with the text of the description, cover image of the video and the ability to play it by pressing the relevant button. This playback does not work with all videos, it seems that very few are still supported today.
To share a Reels video on WhatsApp you have to follow these steps:
- Access the Reels video you want to share and click on its three menu items.
- Select ‘Share’.
- Choose WhatsApp and paste the video into the conversation you want.
- The link will load the cover image along with the play button. If playback is active you will be able to open it without leaving the app.
