Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 is being a great success and according to the latest leaks, its successor will feature Leica camera technology. According to these leaks, the Snapdragon 888 will have a ‘lite’ model with some slight differences.
Snapdragon 888 4G and Leica
As we said, it has been leaked that Qualcomm is already working on a lite version of Snapdragon 888, a model with slightly less power to be marketed at a lower price. But the successor will not have a 5G modem, we are talking about a 4G model.
The company is testing it already on board a unit with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS storage, so we already know that compatibility with these memories will be maintained. The processor seems to be still in the initial testing phase so it may take a few months to see it in operation.
In addition to this, other leaks show that Qualcomm is working closely with Leica, the well-known player in the world of classic photography. This has emerged from an internal module of this Snapdragon 888 4G.
It is unknown for now what function this Leica 1 module would fulfill in the phone in general, but everything points to the fact that it would be a photo support module, perhaps working in conjunction with the Spectra of the upcoming Snapdragon 888 4G to perform various image processing tasks. We’ll see what finally happens as there are still no release or presentation dates for any of the components.
