ASUS is one of the first manufacturers to introduce custom versions of the new AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT dedicated GPUs.
Although the Taiwanese firm will also sell the reference models, these custom ones are undoubtedly the ones that will be able to extract the full potential of AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture; the Navi 22 XT graphics core manufactured in 7nm processes; the 2,560 shaders; the 160 texturing units; the 64 raster units; the 40 ray tracing units and the 12 GB dedicated GDDR6 memory that AMD has laid out as base technical specifications.
The price will be slightly higher than the $479 of the reference model and they will be available from March 18.
ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT
There are three customized versions presented by the Taiwanese manufacturer.
ASUS ROG Strix RX 6700 XT O12G will be the highest performance model of the trio. With factory overclocked frequencies above the 2.24GHz of the reference model’s graphics core, it includes the latest-generation DirectCU III cooling solution we’ve already seen in the manufacturer’s RTX 30 models. It features a large finned aluminum heatsink, a trio of Axial-Tech fans also of the latest batch, RGB lighting, and the highest voltage regulator (VRM). Of course, it will connect to a PCIe 4.0 bus and include a 12GB dedicated memory.
The other model is the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 6700 XT OC. Like the entire series, it will feature better frequencies over the reference model. TUF Gaming exposes much of the bare metal of its heatsink through an aerated metal cover and uses a trio of Axial-Tech fans. It has two 8-pin PCIe connectors for power supply just like the ROG Strix, but this model is expected to have a slightly reduced VRM on it and lower factory overclock speeds.
Rounding out the ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT series will be an XT Dual model included in the PRIME family of motherboards and graphics cards, while maintaining performance this model goes for a more sober look. It features a more compact board design, with a lighter aluminum fin stack heat sink that only uses a pair of Axial-Tech fans. This board draws its power from two 6 + 8 pin PCIe connectors and like the others will connect to the PCIe 4.0 interface and will include a12GB memory.
