Nintendo prepares a new Switch with a larger OLED screen with 4K resolution for this year. This device continues to be a success even though it has been 4 years since its launch on the market. It is still a fantastic console, but new rumors point to a new Nintendo Switch Pro.
The company has plans to launch a successor to the Nintendo Switch this year, with new features that would put it on par with next-generation consoles. According to the leaks, it will come with a 7-inch OLED panel manufactured by Samsung and 4K resolution support for TVs.
Nintendo Switch Pro might be a reality
As we said, its main new feature will be the 7-inch OLED screen manufactured by Samsung, with an initial production of one million units. It may not seem much, but it makes sense considering the serious stock problem we are suffering right now with the new generation consoles.
Switch Pro will also bring a 4K mode on TVs in Dock mode, although the console resolution will remain at 720p. Surely in a rescaled form, as does the current PlayStation 4 Pro and other Microsoft desktop consoles.
The problem is that, ultimately, this would depend heavily on the developers, as they would be the ones to decide if their games can achieve this rescaling to 4K. As we have seen on other occasions, some games to conform to the power of the Switch, have had to lower their resolution below 1080 on TVs, so perhaps not all games will be able to take advantage of this feature.
When Nintendo Switch Pro will be launched?
The panels manufactured by Samsung will arrive in July. The media specifies that Nintendo would be waiting for the festive periods of this year to increase the demand for this new console. Therefore, it is to be expected that the launch will take place in December. Probably the company will wait to see if the pandemic recedes enough.
